As we strive to become better muslims, Let’s draw inspirations from the teachings of the Prophet (SAW). Let us look at some of the Sunnan of the Prophet Muhammad (SAW) :
- GHUSL (BATH) : Taking bath on Friday is compulsory as stated in Volume 2, Book 13, Number 20 of Sahih Al Bukhary: Narrated by Abu Said Al-Khudri That The Prophet (SAW) said, "The taking of a bath on Friday is compulsory for every Muslim who has attained the age of puberty."
- PUTTING ON YOUR BEST CLOTHES : It was Narrated by Abu Hurayrah and Abu Said Al-Khudri that the Prophet (SAW) said: “Whoever has a bath on Friday, puts on the best of his clothes, applies perfume if he has any, then attends Friday prayer without crossing over people’s necks, then performs what Allah has prescribed for him, then remains silent from the time his Imam comes out [to deliver the sermon] until he finishes his prayer, it will atone for his [minor] sins committed in between this Friday prayer and the Friday prayer of the previous week.” (Sunan Abi Dawud no: 347, Musnad Ahmad, and Mustadrak of al-Hakim no: 1084) .
- GOING EARLY TO THE MASJID (MOSQUE) : It is mentioned in the hadith of Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him), who narrated that the Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) said: “Whoever does ghusl from janaabah on Friday, then comes to the mosque early, it is as if he sacrificed a camel. Al-Bukhaari (881) and Muslim (850).
- SIT CLOSE TO THE IMAM : The Prophet (SAW) said: ‘Whoever takes a bath on Friday, and bathes completely, and goes early, arriving early,* and walks and does not ride (to the mosque), and sits close to the Imam and listens to him, and does not engage in idle talk; for every step he takes he will have the reward of one year, the reward of a year’s fasting and praying (at night).”(Ibn Majah).
- READING SURATUL-KAHF : It was narrated From Abu Sa’eed al-Khudri, who said: “Whoever reads Soorat al-Kahf on the night of Jumu’ah, will have a light that will stretch between him and the Ancient House (the Ka’bah).”(Narrated by al-Daarimi, 3407. This hadeeth was classed as saheeh by Shaykh al-Albaani in Saheeh al-Jaami , 6471).
